Heading to the Disco by the Horrorpops

When I first heard this song, I was really into the '80's (not that I'm not now... I am though not like 2 years ago) and my dad was in the car listening to pandora and this song came on and it peaked his interest because at the time we thought that the Horrorpops only had two albums and this was off their third album which was surprising for him, so that's what first peaked his interest. The other thing that peaked his interest was that it was a song totally trashing a thing that his daughter was totally into at the time, although he knew that I didn't put on neon colored spandex and things like that, I was just into hair metal, which I've done a post about already.
He liked it and then when it came on again when I was in the car, he forced me to listen to it (not really forced me to, considering I love them, I listened willingly) and then I started to laugh as I listened to the lyrics, it amused me how much it showed that they didn't like the '80's, which I could understand, considering they are phsycobilly which is kind of  a '50's revival with a punk rock spin.
Then a couple of months later, I found an interview with Patricia Day, the singer and stand-up bassist for the band, and in that interview she expressed the reason why she wrote this song was because her friends dragged her to a hair metal cover band for her birthday (even though she lived through the '80's) and she thought the whole thing was so ridiculous and over the top that she wrote the song in mockery.
