Revolution by the Beatles

I've been obsessed with this song since someone talked about the cultural revolution in history. But I've loved it for longer, this and I Want You (She's So Heavy) are my favorite Beatles songs, the other ones are just way over played in my opinion.
I love this song in Across the Universe, it's a good part in the movie. I also like the I Want You (She's So Heavy) part in the movie.

Sheena is a Punk Rocker by The Ramones

This is one of my favorite Ramones songs. I just love it. The sound that it has is just raw and it's just not refined and precise. The Ramones are one of the first punk bands, so yeah, maybe their songs aren't always refined and precise, but THAT is what punk rock is, it's gritty, unrefined and just awesome!
Punk rock was originally supposed to be making fun of rock music. That is inconsequential now (to me) because music is music no matter what it's making fun of or trying to represent.
Good music doesn't need to be explained to anyone, it's just good music and if you find yourself in a position where you have to explain to someone why you listen to the music you do, just walk away because they won't understand your reasons because they aren't you. We shouldn't have to feel obligated change our views on music or anything else in life to match someone else's so they will like us better because we are all our individual selves, we are not mass produced in a factory so we will not be the same. But we do feel obligated to change ourselves everyday because we want to agree with other people's views. Okay, having things in common with people is always wanted, but at the expense of your individuality? It shouldn't be.
Sorry that I got sidetracked.... So, these are a few versions of Sheena is a Punk Rocker.

The Horrorpops

The Horrorpops are one of my favorite bands, along with Social Distortion, the Nekromantix, Motley Crue... etc. (there is no real order to the listing). They are a psychobilly band. Psychobilly is a fusion of music genres that include punk rock, rock n' roll, rockabilly and other genres.
The group formed in 1996 when Kim Nekroman was preforming a concert in Cologne, Germany. Patricia Day was also preforming with her band at the time, Peanut Pump Gun. Patricia's band opened for his. They met backstage and they are now married. It is kind of a cool story if you think about it, even when you find out that they were both from (living in) Copenhagen, Denmark, but never met each other.
They recruited Patricia's friends, Mille and Kamilla Vanilla, as go-go dancers. Henrik Stendahl became their dummer and Casper Holbek became the second guitarist. Patricia Day was on stand-up bass/lead vocalist and Kim Nekroman was the first guitarist/back-up vocalist.
They have put out three albums so far:

  • Hell Yeah! (2004) Hellcat/Epitaph Records
  • Bring It On! (2005) Hellcat/Epitaph Records
  • Kiss Kiss Kill Kill (2008) Hellcat/ Epitaph Records

  • These are just four of their songs that I like. I would put more, but the others have things that restrict me from posting them.

    Emotional Miscellaneous

I know this post is called Emotional Miscellaneous, but it's not because I am currently having an emotional time. I'm not. These songs are just emotional songs. I just feel like posting about them because I can't think of other songs that I listen to that I haven't posted about that I feel like posting today, so I'm posting these. I don't listen to these types of songs very often, it'd kind of rare that I actually do, but every now and then, for a change in 'scenery', I listen to it.
On Thursday, I will have a post that I have thought about longer than this one.

    Valentines Day

Since today is Valentines Day, I am going to do a VD themed post. These songs are my favorite love songs.
The first five songs are from Bon Jovi :). I think I am on a Bon Jovi kick right now. I love these songs because they are unbelievably sweet for me and I, being the hopeless romantic I am, just love them. These songs are Diamond Ring, I'll Be There For You, Born To Be My Baby, What Do You Got?, and Always. I love them because they are just so sweet.
The next two are Dotted With Hearts by the Horrorpops and My Girl by the Nekromatix. I love them because even if they aren't like most conventional love songs, they are still sweet.
The last songs are Let It Be Me, Bad Luck, and Writing on the Wall by Social Distortion. These songs just like the other songs are my favorite love songs because they have meaning and every song needs to be meaningful to the writer along with the consumer.
All songs have to have meaning no matter what type of song they are. All songs mean something for the writer and for the consumer, that is why we have music because the songs we listen to can bring specific wanted meaning into our lives.

    Hair Metal

Today I am going to talk about hair metal, which is also known as glam metal. It was a type of music that was famous the decade before I was born. It kind of died when grunge came along. It came mainly from the LA Hollywood strip although there was bands that came from the east coast (Bon Jovi). I started listening to glam metal or hair metal a few years ago, but really I can remember hearing it when I was much younger from my dad watching VH1 Classic. It is said that you grow up listening to what your parents listen to and that is true.
My most favorite bands when I started listening to it again (I say again because I heard it when I was much younger) were Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, LA Guns, Skid Row, Warrant, Cinderella, Def Leppard, Vixen, Lita Ford, Faster Pussycat, and Bon Jovi. I also used to like Guns n' Roses, but now because of the knowledge I have on the band members, I can't listen to them, it just makes my skin crawl.
Motley Crue consists of Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, and Vince Neil (also The Nasty Habits were a part of the band) and they began in 1981. I love their older songs, I don't really enjoy their newer songs. I chose Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away) because I love hair metal ballads and because the other songs are kind of not appropriate (you will find this a kind of a theme in this blog post. I also chose Without You because I just love the song.
Poison consists of Rikki Rockett, Bret Micheals, Bobby Dall, C.C. Deville and they started in 1983. Before they were Poison, they were Paris. I like the songs from the '80's better than their newer stuff. I chose Fallen Angel because it is one of the few songs that isn't really a ballad that is actually appropriate. I also chose Something to Believe In because it's a sweet song because it was for their roadie who died and was the one who kind of kept them going, I would think.
Ratt consists of Warren DeMartini, Stephen Pearcy, Bobby Blotzer, Juan Croucier, and Robin Crosby
(now has Carlos Cavazo) and they started in 1976, but were signed in 1983. They were known as Mickey Ratt, before dropping their name to Ratt. I chose Your In Love because I love the song. I also chose Best of Me, which is one of their newer songs.
LA Guns consists of Tracii Guns, Paul Black, Mick Cripps, and Nickey Alexander and they started in 1989. Tracii Guns and Axl Rose were in the band together when they were just starting out, then they broke up and the two started Guns n' Roses and then Tracii left Guns n' Roses and went back to LA Guns. I chose Ballad of Jayne because it's just one of my favorite songs.
Skid Row consists of Sebastian Bach, Rachel Bolan, Dave Sabo, Scotti Hill, and Rob Affuso and they started in 1986. Sebastian was the youngest member of the band, but he had a great voice so he was put into the band by the manager, Doc McGee. I chose I Remember You and Youth Gone Wild because I love these songs.
Warrant consists of Jani Lane, Steven Sweet, Joey Allen, and Erik Turner and they started in 1984. Jani Lane died in 2011 and I saw it first on E! News on the bottom banner, I found it sad because it was the first death of a band member from a band I liked in the time I was alive. I chose Uncle Tom's Cabin because I like the song.
Cinderella consists of Tom Kiefer, Eric Brittingham, Michael Smerick, and Tony Destra and started in 1983. Jon Bon Jovi saw them in a club and made them get big. I chose Somebody Save Me because Bon Jovi does a cameo.
Def Leppard consists of Steve Clark, Rick Allen, Phil Collin, Joe Elliot, and Rick Savage and formed in 1977. They were actually a British band. I chose Hysteria and Photograph and Animal because I like these songs.
Vixen consists of Janet Gardner, Jan Kuehnemund, Share Pedersen, and Roxy Petrucci. I chose Edge of a Broken Heart because I chose their other hit in an earlier post.
Lita Ford had a solo career after The Runaways. I chose Kiss Me Deadly.
Faster Pussycat was also one of the bands. I chose You're So Vain.
Bon Jovi consists of Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan, and Tico Torres and started in 1983. I chose We Weren't Born to Follow because I like the song.

    Miscellaneous Medley

I kept doing medleys or combinations of songs because I have a hard time deciding on what song truly  speaks to me at the time when I sit to do the blog. I end up sitting at the computer (or phone), trying to figure out what to write about, but one song doesn't just pop into my head, multiple songs do, then I have no idea of what I will do, so I do medleys or combinations of songs.
Now that I have had my string of random thoughts, I can get to the songs.
The first song that I want to do is, Sorrow by Bad Religion. I like this song because I like the style of the song, but really, the style of the band. They have a diverse style of music, in my opinion, they can have a heavier song, then a totally mellower song, like this one. I think that also depends on the album its on and when it came out.

The second song is Here Comes Your Man by Pixies. I believe this was the first Pixies song that I ever liked. When I was younger, this was my favorite Pixies song, along with Wave of Mutilation.

The third song is Haven't Met You Yet by Michael Buble. I just heard this song a few days ago and it was one of those songs that I wasn't sure about until I heard it again, but I am coming to find that I enjoy some of his songs because of who he's inspired by and the fact that you can hear that in his music.

The fourth song is Far Behind by Social Distortion. This song is perfect when I am mad and over a friend who just keeps acting as if they are my enemy versus what they actually are.
